We have a strict protocol of snip sanitation, bed and plant inspection and do not allow u-picks for dahlias for this reason. While dahlia u-picks may work for others, it isn’t worth a risk in our field. Sanitation of snips is practiced in between varieties and if a tuber looks even the slightest bit suspicious, it’s culled immediately. Sarah is the only one who harvests the dahlias so you can ensure every protocol taken is to make sure you have a healthy plant!
